Aberavon
Not so much a game of 2-halves as a game of 2 sides - the pre-Dec 1st Ebbw Vale team in the first half & the post-Dec 1st Ebbw Vale team in the 2nd half !
On the plus side - we saw in one game just how much this team has improved.
On the minus side - I really didn't want to see the 'old' side ever again.
As bad as the team & every player was in the first half - the team & every player was outstanding in the 2nd half.
I have no explanation - but it was definitely a game we should have won.

Re: Aberavon
Lessons learned I think John.Everyone contributed to the horror show that was the first half.As you said, superb in the second half. But schoolboy errors cost us with us facing 13 men in the last ten minutes. From the Aberavon restart with us requiring a try to win it we caught the ball and inexplicably kicked it right back to them .Up your jumper stuff from Ravon ensured the clock wound down to just four minutes.Six minutes wasted. Then there was the last gasp penalty.Still facing 13 men ,the penalty was kicked long......and short !!! when it would have been better just to kick it anywhere inside the 22,win the line out ,and let the backs stretch the barren Aberavon defence.A try went a - beggin.and the win was gone.Very frustrating. But we managed 2 points.Could have been 5.

Re: Aberavon
Classical example of a week in the life of an EBBW Vale supporter .From feeling euphoric last Saturday ,to feeling at half time on Thursday shell shocked. You cannot give a team 27 points start and gift away tries by non existent tackling. As JOHN said ,like watching us play in the dark days in early season. One other baffling question,When a team are down to 13 players, why do we persist in kicking the ball away? Why did one of the more experienced players not instruct our young half backs to keep the ball in hand ? Having got so close to winning really felt we threw the game away.

Re: Aberavon
Of course the comments by the Fridge & David Brown regarding our lack of game management when Aberavon were down to 13 & our lack of accuracy during the last 5 minutes are absolutely spot on.
