AMPTHILL

Post by Stevey »

Well it was a three hour trip to Bedford, a place I've never visited before, really nice town centre and you can see that it's a more affluent area than what we are used to.
We were playing against a team that had strong, former international South Sea islanders in their pack. We coped admirably with them although they may have just edged us a few times, I was impressed with Joel Harris who has started to nail his name on Ebbw's teamsheet.
Their backs were not as impressive as their forwards but our boys gave them little room on the park so that may be why.
Toby saved a certain try, his pace and strength too much for their winger who may have thought it was try time as he was bundled into touch on our five metre line.
Rhys Jones did well and knows what to do and when to do it.
Everyone tackled for their lives and maybe Ampthill were not expecting such a competitive battle.
If this is the benchmark for the season then I'm looking forward to it.
See you in Nantyglo next Saturday against Chinnor at 2.30.
