Dragons drop the Newport-Gwent on merchandise

Looks like all the new merchandise in Pure Rugby and the Rodney Parade shop only has the Dragons on them, thats basically everything from wallets, tracksuits, key rings, hats etc etc. Is this a sign that they are following the Ospreys and by this hoping to get some new supporters from around Gwent? Any takers? Some people have said on here that they might think about attending games if they drop the Newport, well now it seems they have, or at least are in the process of, so it gives you all something to think about over the holiday.

So when are they doing it properly. Dropping all references to newport from the team kits and the team name ?

Until its totally cleansed of newport why the hell would anyone from outside the town be the slightest bit interested?

If this continues, and the city's name disappears from the shirts, then in time they well get more support. Not overnight, but slowly.

It's a hopeful sign but we're not going to raise our hopes again.

Frankly removal of "Newport" is a minor matter. If they consider joint ownership, proper controlled management with the removal of those who responsible for the annexation by Newport of the region originally, the provision of players across the region and the distribution of games around the region then we MAY in time consider it
