Bridgend the return.

Post by String »

Not sure what to think of this one. We made hard work of it.

OK so no Joe Franchi but the lineout has gone backwards massively. First half quite a few clean overthrows to the Bridgend back row, very messy second half as well.

Lots of kicking - too much and what kicking we did do was nearly often far too long or not chased (or sometimes hacked directly out). Hard to build on that.

Started poorly again and 2 converted tries down after not very long at all. Penalised quite a lot at the breakdown again which is happening more often lately.

OK so we scraped a win in the end but its Bridgend. Improved of late but realistically that should have been a 4 try BP win. Not convinced the drop goal at the end was the right call when attacking a few metres out and really needing a BP for a playoff chance.

Frustratingly scrappy.

If we don't make the playoffs its likely the 5 points we've squandered against Bridgend this season that did it.

Credit to the Bridgend player-coaching who spent more time on the field of play jumping about and shouting than the actual 15 that were supposed to be on at the time.

Credit to the squad though for overcoming the slow start, tricky conditions and penalty count.
