Slam?

Post by Graham »

Wales might not be first on my list of teams, but I was suitably impressed by the first half display today against the Scots. Maybe the second half they had their minds on next weeks game against the Irish for the Slam, or maybe the Scots just woke up. Who knows?

But can they really break the curse of not having won a slam since '78?

I still think that first half scottish performance was the worst ive ever seen them put in. Rather than wales having to create fast flowing moves it just seemed if you ran at a scottish player, he'd half heartedly lift a single arm and that was his "attempt" at a tackle. 4 of those tries were direct results of missed and poor tackling when there wasnt anything on. I suspect scotland are in for another hammering next week. It seems however they cant afford to sack their coach.

And behold it came to pass that there was a great stirring among the men of The Green Island. They gathered unto themselves and said unto each other ''The warriors of the tribe of Taff also worship the great gods Try and Skrumm, and have verily already defeated the men of the tribe of Twickers, those who also call themselves AitchQ, they have defeated the tribe of EyeTie, the tribe of Frogz and today we have had messengers who give news that the tribe of Taff have defeated the tribe of Jox in a great battle held on the Field of Murray''.

There was a great wailing among the men of The Green Island who are of the tribes of Paddees and Mix and they consulted their Elders saying

''What can we do, for we also worship the gods Try and Skrumm and are the best. Who are these men of the tribe of Taff who are so strong?''

The Elders consulted the ancient scrolls and wise writings of their
forefathers and even the sayings of their fivefathers and sent messengers
across the seas. When the messengers returned the Elders made deep
considerations. The Elders returned to the warriors of The Green Island
and said,

''This cannot come to pass, for the warriors of The Green Island are known to be the best. Yet even unto the land of SithAfreeka which is beyond the Great Sand, the Land of Oz beyond the Wide Sea and the people of Kiwi and Argie are making false witness that the men of Taff can be the great holders of the Three Crowns and will be able to worship the God of Slam who dwells in the land of Grand.''

The wailing of the men of The Green Island was loud and was heard across the land.

''We will pray and make offerings to our gods, DonniGall and his wife Conni Mara, and will challenge the men of the tribe of Taff to mighty battle''

And so it came to pass that the men of Taff consulted their great chief WRU and were instructed to received the challenge of the men of The Green Island and sent messengers unto them saying,

''We will meet you on the field of Mill in the land of Ennium and do battle
with you. We will put on our red raiment and attack you with our mighty
weapons which are called Lyneowt and Kwikball, and will call on our other
warriors, Bryn of the land of Terfel, Macx the bard of Boyce, and we will
defeat you with our mightiest weapon, Himzanarias. Come, let us do
battle.''
