New Region for North Wales?
I hope not. I, for one, would be a little hacked off if it did come about. They axed the Warriors because they couldn't afford to keep it running. I am not against the development of the game in North Wales but would this be fair?
What am I supposed to put in here?

Its interesting that with the current ongoing shambles that this subject has raised its head once more. On radio Wales this morning they were talking about making the NW into a region for "development" because the young players can't get into the super clubs down south due to too many foreigners and past it players (i.e the current Welsh side). I wouldn't be surprised if this is put forward as a viable proposition, afterall clutching at straws seems to be the way forward at the moment.WoofBark wrote:I hope not. North WAles
I think that North Wales should have a development team of some kind. Wales can't afford to miss opportunities of this kind. Fortunately, most leagues can tolerate a team more.
It's wonderful to be so broad minded!!

Wales have never knowingly missed an opportunity of missing an opportunity.Audi Diesel wrote:I think that North Wales should have a development team of some kind. Wales can't afford to miss opportunities of this kind.

But chaps, you all seen to be missing the point here..WoofBark wrote:I hope not. I, for one, would be a little hacked off if it did come about. They axed the Warriors because they couldn't afford to keep it running. I am not against the development of the game in North Wales but would this be fair?
..North Wales means "anything above the M4".
To the optimist, the glass is half full. To the pessimist, the glass is half empty.. ..To the engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

Re: New Region for North Wales?
"Parc Eirias in Colwyn Bay was chosen as the side's home and a North Wales Rugby Academy and an innovative plan to introduce Canadian players to the development region's representative team were announced".
Perhaps I'm being a bit cycloptic here, but could someone please explain how this would benefit Welsh rugby?
Also, does this mean it's now a three way play off for the last spot in the WPL, or will they carry on with their plans to put a North Wales based team in?
The WRU...... never missing an opportunity to shoot itself in the foot.

As you know, they have a long history of telling porkies mate. The Development side, kronenbourg 1664 (or whatever it was called), has been touted as WPL side for several seasons by the WRU. Ebbw Vale even had discussions with them a while back regarding the subject.CJ wrote:apparently the north wales region was never going to be in it.

So, unless they change their mind again, the play off teams will be:
Bottom team from WPL (Wands, Quins, Drovers or Pooler)*
Winners of Div 1 West (Bridgend)
Winners of Div 1 East (Newbridge, Ebbw, Gilfach, Merthyr, Beddau, Blackwood)*
Winners of Div 1 North (Caernarfon, Mold, Llandudno)*
* Will delete as season goes on.
