I've just been passed some information. I will not name my source as he is well known within our club and I'm sure he won't want to be held responsible if it turns out to be wrong. I have more respect for him than to name drop on him.
Anyway, there is a new rumour doing the rounds that Newbridge may well fold in the next week or so. If this happens, it is thought that any teams that played and beat them will have the 3 points deducted for each win. I've been told that any teams who played and lost to them will have the 3 points added for each defeat, but this can't be right, as the table needs to be amended as if no games were played against Newbridge.
There are a couple of things that could happen if this is true, but it depends on what mood the wru are in.
What happens to Newbridge (where would they go)?
Would the wru....
Just relegate 2 and promote 1 to get back an even figure (16)?
Relegate 3 and promote 1 and get a bit closer to the allged 12 team league?
Relegate 3 and not promote anyone to get to 14 teams?
Remembering that this is just a rumour at the moment, I have worked out how the table would look if Newbridge hadn’t played any games this season and this is how it looks....................
When looking at the table, remember there are only 30 games to play.

For anyone interested, this is how the top of the table would look. I haven't put in the trys and points difference as they have no impact on us.

It'll be a bitterly sad day for Welsh rugby if Newbridge go to the wall. Surely, with only a handful of games to go, they can keep things going - particularly with practical support from their neighbours.
I know our first instinct is to consider where such an event would leave us but I do think there's a bigger issue here.

Absolutely. Hopefully this rumour is unfounded. There is nothing about it anywhere in the press or on other websites or message boards, so hopefully it is someone who has got it very wrong.ebbwboy wrote:It'll be a bitterly sad day for Welsh rugby if Newbridge go to the wall. They did say a week or so ago that they will do everything they can to fulfill their fixture list, but they do have 9 fixtures to fulfill in a 6 week period. That is gonna take some doing. Filling a front row shortage is hard work, but they say it goes deeper than that down there.
We shall have to wait and see.
